Good Stuff!
So nothing new on the race/ride calendar coming around. Went out the other day and did a loop into Arlington and tried to find Military road....failed on that. So I shot over the Key Bridge to G'Town and headed out McCarther Blvd, was a good ride. Did some 1 minute hard efforts backed it off and rest did that 4 or 5 times felt good. Pushed it harder then normal and was pleased with how I felt. Going to try to get up with Darren again this coming week. He was sick after racing the Middle Mountain Mama this past weekend in Douthat State Park. Heading to Arlington this Sunday for the Coppi ride and hoping to not get dropped. We shall see.
In other news I am now a proud member of the DCMTB squad. Good bunch of folks, some freaking strong dudes as well. Darren is talking about sweeping the podium at Wednesdays at Wakefield I gots me some work to do for Sport Class. Key word is INTERVALS till you wanna throw up and then do it again.
That's it for now.

No better time....
Well....GreenBriar....yea
It was "fun", I finished....didn't come in last. Apparently I have/had a chest cold 1/2 way into the first lap 1/2 way up the first climb I had to pull over and hack/cough about a pound of flem up. Yea good image eh? Coughing fit with sweat running off my face. Fun times for sure. I got that out of my system, then felt like royal butt. Didn't want to finish the race came though the transision/feed zone and saw people I knew so I kept pushing. Knocked out another 2 laps. Started catching a few people near the end of my 2nd lap. 3rd lap I pushed a bit harder. Started cramping near the end keep pedaling stupid keep pedaling.
The course was a blast the terrain reminded me a lot of the Frederick Watershed either up or down. The middle climb which I've heard horror storys wasn't that bad. It was long yes and it had waterbars, my first lap I spun out on one the last 2 laps I cleaned it. Wish there was some places like that closer to DC. The back side was sweet. You dropped down a hill into a rock garden which was layed out so you could ride over the stuff, had a spring too which made it wet. Super fun stuff. Well worth the drive just to ride.
Offical results have me as 14/20 a lot worse then I was expecting. I was near the front when my breathing went to hell. And the entire field passed me. Lovley feeling. Its only the first race of the year and I wasn't expecting to race it.
Anyways. Up next is the Hoo-Ha I am taking all of May to prep for it. Riding with Darren Biggs in the AM, Arlington Hills ride. Not sure how or where its gonna go. Meeting at 8am and riding till 10 or so. Need to get my fitness back for W@W want a good showing for Twin Six. I'll be rocking the METAL the rest of the year at the VORS series

Coming Up.....
Heading north to Boonsboro, MD Sunday AM for the GreenBriar XC race, MD State Championship, Qualifer for something...not sure.
It's gonna hurt I think. Rode Wedsday and Thursday both rides were rather shitty. Had bad heartburn on Weds and Thursday I just didn't have it. Legs feel better today.
Pics and such to come I think, weather is looking good.
This is a cluster ef of a post.

Coming around....
Well I rode in the dirt this weekend.....yes on my Niner. Scary eh? Rocked the new Twin Six METAL
Woke up Sunday had my coffee and oatmeal and headed to Schaffer Farms. Haven't ridden there since the MoCo 2 years ago? The trails are swoopy and a lot of fun, but crowded. Did 2 laps close to 19 miles. Legs felt good, bike felt good, cardio needs a bit more work.
Race is coming way to fast, and there calling for rain in Delaware. I could bag it and stay home.....or go play in the mud. Will see how the legs feel come the weekend. Hoping for a decent finish but the MASS Cat2/Sport fields are stupid big. Maybe the rain will keep em away.

Things a happening......
Well over the course of the past 2 days I got the Niner up and running, cleaned, lubed and dialed in. Flipped the stem over and swapped some spacers around. Got the fix more like my road bike which I prefer. I'm going to play around with it may cut some steer tube. Fits better for xc. The endurance stuff I liked the more upright feel.

Heading to Schaffer Farms tomorrow AM for a ride 2 hours of so faster pace. See if all this road riding has paid off.
The rocking METAL Twin Six came in. They had a choice of good or evil this year. I went with good. I think its pretty bitching white on white, need to get a matching helmet now......

As far as plans for the year I have whats on the schdule here on der blog. Plus I put in for the days off for W@W hopefully improving on my 5th place last year. I had a blast last year its like a short track xc full on.
Have my cross season sorta laid out 7-8 races all in the DC/Va/MD area. Picks up in September same day as the Fountain Head EX2 at Tacchino at Rosaryville. Ends in Reston in December at Capital Cross.
Anywho enough for now. Later.

Roadie Scum
Well I may have fallen into that title. No real dirt rides since the Big MORE Shed ride in December or January. The Niner sits collecting dust with a thrashed front tire and needing bled brakes. It'll be up and running next week.
Today I am off work, county working bum. I drove down to my folks place in Springfield and headed west to Clifton, the land of BMWs and McMansions there are also a few hills out there. Best in the area aside from Arlington I think. Got in 50 miles and 2500 feet of climbing, no little ring either the big 53. Falling asleep as I type this. I'm hoping I will survive SkyMass in June.
Only racing 1 Mass race, other then that its VORS series west and south and I will be in the Twin Six kit. Going elsewhere next season, DCMTB, Gripped Films who knows. Want a local shop and team mates.

Whats Happening?
Well knee is coming around well. No pain....knock on wood. Been riding in the AM before work pretty regularly. Between Hains Point and McCarther Blvd it seems to be working out. Loving the Jake The Snake, fit is pretty good could use a little shorter stem.
Last week I went down to the noon HP Noon Gooner and got dropped hard. Today I went down and hung with them, it was Friday and there is a big road race this weekend. So they may of not been going all out. Averaged 19.9mph and Strava.com says it was mid 20s for most of it.
As far as racing. I think I am going to be doing FairHill XC in Fairhill, MD Walnut Creek in Charlottesville, The Battle at Burke Farm in Culpepper, Massunten Hoo-Ha and W@W if they ever put the dates out so I can take off work.
MTB Racing is over in August or Sept then Cyclocross is already on my mind. I'm looking forward to that more then Mountain Bike racing.....seems wrong eh?
Think I'm going to go fake fitness at the Coppi ride this weekend and try my hardest to not get dropped. Hope all the big boys are at Jefferson Cup this weekend. Mr. Bloomquest will be heading down there. Good luck to ya Erik,.
